How the certified warranties are measured
The coverage periods do not all start the day you buy. Knowing which clock each one runs on tells you how much coverage a particular vehicle really has left.
- Powertrain and BaseCARE EV
From the original start date
The 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty (Gold) and the 8-year/100,000-mile BaseCARE EV warranty count from the day the vehicle was first sold new, not from the day you buy it. A Gold Certified truck first sold in 2023 is covered into 2030, or to 100,000 miles on the odometer.
- 12 months or 12,000 miles
After the factory warranty ends
Ford’s new-vehicle warranty covers 3 years or 36,000 miles. If some of it is left when you buy, the certified comprehensive warranty starts when it ends. If it has already run out, the certified warranty starts on the day you buy.
- Transfers and repairs
It goes with the vehicle
The certified warranties transfer to the next owner at no cost. Gold and EV Certified vehicles can be repaired at any Ford dealer in the U.S., and Blue Certified at any Ford or Lincoln dealer in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico.
Repairs covered by a certified warranty carry a $100 deductible per repair visit. Repairs still covered by Ford’s original factory warranty have no deductible. See the warranty documents on Ford’s certified pre-owned page for what is and is not covered.
14 days or 1,000 miles to change your mind
Every Ford Blue Advantage vehicle comes with Ford’s Money Back Guarantee. If the vehicle is not right, bring it back and the dealer will help you find another one. Ford’s conditions:
- Return it within 14 days or 1,000 miles of the sale, whichever comes first, using the date and mileage on the bill of sale.
- It must be in the condition it was sold in, apart from normal wear and use.
- The vehicle cannot have a lien or other encumbrance on it.
- A vehicle you traded in is not given back.
- Choosing a different vehicle may mean a new credit application, with different terms.
- Anyone who has returned a Ford Blue Advantage vehicle in the last six months cannot use it again.
Only available at participating Ford dealers. See us for Ford’s full program guidelines and restrictions.
The history report, points, and trials
- History
A free CARFAX report
Every Ford Blue Advantage vehicle comes with a CARFAX Vehicle History Report, so you see its accident, title, and ownership record before you buy.
- Ford Rewards
22,000 or 11,000 points
Gold and EV Certified buyers get 22,000 Ford Rewards points and Blue Certified buyers 11,000. Enroll in Ford Rewards within 60 days of buying to receive them, then use them toward maintenance.
- Trials
SiriusXM and connected services
Ford’s brochures list a three-month SiriusXM trial, and ford.com lists a 90-day connected services trial through the Ford app, on equipped vehicles.
Financing a certified Ford
Ford Credit publishes special APRs on certified vehicles from time to time, with different rates for Gold and Blue Certified and for EV Certified. They change, so see the current rates on Ford’s certified financing page, or ask our finance team what applies to the vehicle you are looking at.
Questions about Ford certified pre-owned
What is the difference between Gold and Blue Certified?
Gold Certified is for Fords up to 6 years old with under 80,000 miles. It passes a 172-point inspection and adds a 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive warranty and a 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Blue Certified is for any make up to 10 years old with under 150,000 miles. It passes a 139-point inspection and comes with a 90-day/4,000-mile comprehensive warranty.
When does the Ford certified powertrain warranty start?
On the date the vehicle was first sold new, not the date you buy it. The 7-year/100,000-mile limit counts from that original start date and the odometer reading.
Is there a deductible on the Ford Blue Advantage warranty?
Yes, $100 per repair visit on the certified warranties. Repairs still covered by Ford’s original new-vehicle warranty have no deductible.
Is the Ford certified warranty transferable?
Yes. Any remaining coverage stays with the vehicle when it is sold, at no cost.
Can I get a certified Ford serviced at another Ford dealer?
Yes. Gold and EV Certified vehicles can be repaired under warranty at any Ford dealer in the U.S. Blue Certified vehicles can go to any Ford or Lincoln dealer in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico.
Can I return a Ford Blue Advantage vehicle?
Within 14 days or 1,000 miles, whichever comes first, at participating Ford dealers. The vehicle has to be in the condition it was sold in and free of liens, a traded-in vehicle is not returned, and the guarantee can be used once in six months.
